From the Northwoods to the Texas hill country and in every deer camp and lodge in between, the .3030 rifle remains the perennial choice of whitetail hunters. More than just another deer cartridge, the venerable .3030 has been the king of deer calibers since the first rifle chambered in this ageless round was produced in 1894. In fact, its a safe bet that in the past century, no other

there will be as little packing of gravel on the riffles as possible. Two or three sluice riffles are generally sufficient but more can be added if the waste or tailings are found to contain gold. Two crossbraces are necessary to keep the top of the sluice from warping. In Figure 5
Keep the riffles shorter, I like slightly more than a quarter inch straight up and down riffle, this is because they don''t wash the same way a sluice does, gold will stop in the concentrates before the riffle not lay in an eddy behind it. This is because the water puddles in
Riffles, canvas, blankets, corduroy, burlap, or cocoa matting with expanded metal have been used to cover the bottom of the trough and all have met with varying degrees of success in saving the gold. The combination of cocoa matting covered with expanded metal lath

The first huge problem with this design became apparent. I had planned on removing the sluice from the cradle, putting it into a 5gallon bucket, and washing the material out of the riffles into the bucket. However, the cradle had been designed to be a tight fit on the sluice. Both the sluice and cradle had absorbed water and expanded.
A sluice box can process much more material, much more quickly than a person, or even a team of people can pan material with gold pans. I drew up a simple plan for a cradle that would sit on top of a plastic storage bin full of water. The cradle would hold the sluice and allow me to adjust the angle of tilt.
Aug 14, 2016#0183;#32;A sluice box is simply a long narrow box fitted with a number of obstructions referred to as riffles. When placed in a stream of running water the gold bearing dirt from the stream is fed into the sluice box where gold particles are caught by the riffles while the lighter dirt is washed away.

Like a sluice box, the cradle has riffles and a carpet for trapping the gold. Rocker, probably invented by Cornish miners, was one of the tools used to easily extract gold from rocks and riverbeds during the California Gold Rush. Isaac Humphrey, generally known as quot;Majorquot; is said to have introduced the rocker to the California gold fields.

Aug 13, 2008#0183;#32;The cradle must be placed on an inclination while being worked, and under the influence of the continued sidetoside rocking the dirt is quickly disintegrated, passes down through the hopper grizzly and the water and the undersize fall down onto the canvas apron which saves most of the gold and places the remainder at the head end of the trough.
Like a sluice box, the rocker box has riffles and a carpet in it to trap the gold. It was designed to be used in areas with less water than a sluice box. The mineral processing involves pouring water out of a small cup and then rocking the small sluice box like a cradle, thus the name rocker box or cradle.

The box is nonmoving and simply uses gravity and the flow of water. As water moves through the sluice box, rocks, small, objects, sand, and gold get trapped in different layers called riffles. The device works more effectively when compared to gold panning as the act of separation is
